Brooke is the best

So I'm in Denver at a conference for work, that I really really don't want to be at. My flight was early this morning so I had to get up at 4:30am. I know so far it sounds like I'm looking for sympathy, but what I am writing about is how Brooke got up 3 or 4 times last night with crying kids so I could sleep because she knew I was only going to get a few hours of sleep before I had to catch my flight. Brooke is one of the most considerate people I know and one of the least complaining people I know. I love you Brookie, thank for being so cool!

The Purple Colgate Toothbrush

This morning when I went to brush my teeth, for some odd reason my purple toothbrush was sitting on the counter as opposed to in the drawer where it belongs. I thought it a little odd but then again, everything is always odd when you have a handful of small kids running around the house. As I started to brush my teeth, I wondered why my soft bristles felt more medium. Odd but then so is life. I finished up and put my toothbrush back in the drawer. A few hours later, my mother-in-law asked, "Brooke, have you seen my purple toothbrush? I left it on the counter in your bathroom." It's all clear now but unfortunately a little too clear!

Socks, Socks and More Socks

So check it out. Each day, I have 6 pairs of socks (a pair for each member of the family and usually one mishap or trip to the gym or whatever requires an extra pair some time during the day) to clean, dry, match and fold. That might not seem like much but it adds up! That means that during a one month period, 12 socks a day, times 30 days equals 360 socks each month that need to be cleaned and matched and put away. THAT IS A NIGHTMARE!!! If nothing else, I can't wait for summer because I can make my kids wear flip flop (no socks!) everyday- I might budge on Sundays.

First Real Haircut

Tyler got her haircut last week for the first time (aside from when I trim the ends of every few months). She LOVED it! I see lots of trips to the beauty salon in her future. She's such a girl.

Bottoms Up

It's such a bummer when you go to check on your semi-pottytrained-but-still-wears-pullups-to-bed kid at naptime and find the following:

Poor Little Ryder!

When we were growing up, if we put on an outfit that was too small or wearing out or just not right, my mom would say, "Go change your outfit, you look poor." Now at the time, we were poor but I guess my mom didn't think we needed to wear that on our sleeve. When I think of the expression, "you look poor" now, it makes me laugh (I swear you can't say that!- so un-PC). So it's been fluctuating between spring and winter here so it's been a bit of a challenge getting my kids dressed each day. On Saturday, I put Ryder in an outfit he hadn't worn for probably a month and a half. By the time I got it on him (he's a bit of a struggle to get dressed!) I decided it looked a little snug but after all my hard work, we would just go with it. By the end of the night, it was covered in food and I swear smaller than when I put it on him in the morning. My mom took one look at him and about croaked. I can now see exactly what she meant when she said we looked poor!!!

Blind Faith

So the other evening we were at the park and I noticed that Boston's eyes are turning green (they are blue but starting the transition over to green). Anywho, Ammon wanted to take a look so he said, "Hey Bos, show me your peepers." Boston sat there for a minute and then stood up and started to unzip his pants!

It's ALWAYS an Adventure!

No way did Tyler get a bracelet stuck on Ryder's thigh today at the mall! Yes, she did. And it was one of those thick wooden ones so Ryder's poor little let almost got pulled off trying to maneuver it off. The problem is, when I told Tyler to NEVER do that again, she asked, "then why are you laughing?". One of those this-isn't-funny-at-all-but-for-some-reason-I-can't-help-but-laugh situations.

Help!

Does anyone have any good threats for me to use on my kids? My current repertoire has completely lost its effectiveness! It's almost like I'm invisible as well as mute when I tell my kids to pick up that puzzle or I'll put you in the corner or send you to your room or throw the puzzle away, etc, etc. Ideas?

PS- my little sister Lacey (or Loo to all who know her well) is so nice (but if you know her that's pretty obvious)!!! She just sent me this Edible Arrangements box with Chocolate Coconut Covered Pineapple and White and Milk Chocolate Covered Bananas because I was having a bit of a moment today with my kids being a pinch on the disobedient side. This stuff is SOOO good. In fact, I may just make it my goal to eat the whole box by end of day today. I LOVE YOU LOO!!!! You're the BEST SISTER EVER!

What in the World?

So a few days ago, Boston told Ammon that there was blanket in the fridge. When Ammon asked him why, he said because his snake was getting cold. Hmmm? So we investigated and found the following.

When I asked Boston why his snake (it's not real) was in the fridge he said "Because he was messing up my puzzle I was working on so I put him in the fridge so he couldn't mess it up, but then he was getting cold so I gave him a blanket to keep him warm."

Little kids are so funny!!!

I have a pocket like Daddy

Quick story that happened this morning. As I was laying bed this morning Boston came in and started climbing on me and asking lots of questions. Suddenly he shoves his hand in the fly of my PJ's and says, "Dad why do you have a pocket right here?" Then he looks at his underwear and starts jumping on the bed and chanting, "I have a pocket like Daddy"

Hodge Podge

Okay so there are a few things I have been meaning to blog about but have either forgotten or fallen behind. Here goes the run down:

Happy Easter- a pinch late

While Boston was getting out of the car last week he feel and fractured his elbow. Yeah! So he was splinted for a few days and then our neighbor, who is an orthopaedic surgeon, casted him at his house one night. Of course he choose orange!

Today it was chilly out (ridiculous since it's April!). So my kiddles did one of their favorite getting warm activities (thanks Crit!). They find a heater and then wrap themselves up in a blanket over it and harness the heat.

Poor Ryder- TRAPPED. He was fussing one evening during dinner so Ammon went to grab him and found Ryder in a predicament.

One last thing- so I gave Tyler a little lecture the other night because every time I give her dinner, she immediately says, "I don't like it." So tonight, when I handed her her dinner she said, "Mom, this food is really good it just tastes bad." Sheesh!!!! So, it got me thinking and I have to mention my all time favorite thing one of my kids has ever said (in the comedy section). One evening Boston was eating his dinner and suddenly threw it all up. He sat there stunned for a moment and then said, "I pooped my food out of my mouth." It was great!!!
